For One more time

For one more time, I could spread marmalade on bread,

Feel the quiet mornings where the world was mine to tread.

For one more time, I could just lie in my old bed,

Where dreams were whole, and nothing felt unsaid.

For one more time, I could hug the ones I’ve lost,

Hold their hands, no thought of what it cost.

For one more time, I could live my childhood days,

Where laughter echoed through forgotten ways.

But time has fled, and all that's left is me,

A man who misses what he can no longer see.

For one more time, I'd give all that remains,

To taste the joy, the love, despite the pains.

For one more time—if I could hold it close,

I'd never let it fade, not one moment, not a ghost.
